I’ve heard that the first year after a baby is born is really tough and stressful on the “couple”, but I never expected this. We argue about absolutely everything.
We both really try to make a conscious effort to stop fighting. We’ll try to do things like have “date nights” and usually when we spend some time alone, things get better for a while. But then something will happen (it can be the smallest thing!) and off we go again.
I’ve suggested counselling, but he won’t admit that it’s bad enough to seek professional help. It doesn’t help that I’ve been battling post partum depression since she was born.
Any advice out there from couples who have been through this? Is this a phase? Does it get better?
